1. What RecipeScan Does

RecipeScan is a web app that extracts, converts, and scales recipe ingredients using AI. It is provided as-is for personal, non-commercial kitchen use. We use Anthropic's Claude AI to read and interpret recipe content — accuracy depends on the quality of the input and is not guaranteed.

2. Free Tier & Scan Limits

The free plan includes 3 recipe scans per month. A "scan" is any use of the Recipe tab — camera, upload, paste, or URL.

• The scan counter resets at the start of each calendar month.
• Attempting to circumvent scan limits (e.g. clearing local storage repeatedly or using automated tools) is a violation of these terms.
• The ingredient converter tab is always unlimited and free.

3. Paid Subscription

Unlimited scans are available via a paid subscription. By subscribing:

• You authorise Paddle (our payment processor) to charge the applicable fee on a recurring basis.
• You may cancel at any time via the billing portal. Access continues until the end of the paid period.
• Prices are shown inclusive of applicable taxes where required by law.

4. Refunds

We offer a 7-day refund on new subscriptions if you're not satisfied — no questions asked. After 7 days, refunds are at our discretion. Contact us at [email protected]. Chargebacks raised without contacting us first may result in account suspension.

5. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

• Use RecipeScan to process content that is illegal, harmful, or infringes third-party rights.
• Resell, sublicense, or commercially exploit the service without written permission.
• Use automated scripts or bots to interact with the app.
• Attempt to reverse-engineer, scrape, or access underlying API keys or infrastructure.

6. AI Accuracy Disclaimer

RecipeScan uses AI to extract and convert recipe data. Results may be inaccurate. Always verify ingredient quantities before cooking, especially for baking or recipes requiring precision. We are not liable for dishes that don't turn out as expected.

7. Intellectual Property

The RecipeScan name, logo, and interface are our intellectual property. Recipe content you submit remains yours. We claim no ownership over your recipes. You grant us a limited, temporary licence to process your content solely to provide the service.

8. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, RecipeScan is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. We are not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from use of the service. Our total liability to you shall not exceed the amount you paid us in the 3 months preceding any claim.

9. Governing Law

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales. If you are a consumer in the EU, you may also have rights under your local laws that cannot be excluded by this clause.

10. Changes to These Terms

We may update these terms from time to time. Material changes will be indicated by a new date at the top of this page. Continued use of RecipeScan after changes constitutes acceptance. If you disagree with updated terms, your remedy is to stop using the service and cancel any subscription.
